Interactive Audio Visual Textile Installation
The installation combines cyanotypes on fabric, photoweaving, conductive materials, Arduino, and p5.js. Each woven photograph functions as a touch sensor that triggers a different voicemail through a handmade soft speaker embedded into the textile itself. Because the speaker is intentionally quiet, listeners have to place their ear directly against the fabric, mimicking the physical gesture of listening to a voicemail through a phone.
A huge part of this project became experimentation and adaptation. I originally planned to use UV printing before pivoting entirely into cyanotypes, which transformed the pace of the work and made the process much more tactile and time-intensive. I spent weeks testing weaving structures, touch sensors, conductive materials, and speaker forms before arriving at something that felt emotionally aligned with the concept. The final piece became as much about touch, proximity, and material memory as it was about technology itself.
